Untethering
poetry/prose
Morning rays of sun, cascade downwardly kissing the floor beneath her feet.
Birds perch and chirp a melodic melody greeting the new day in chorus she is privy party of.
Her body quivers, not in hunger, not with chill but in unsettled energy, its truth yet untold.
Anticipation? Perhaps. Perpetual motion needed to complete what is needing to be done.
She sees the signs, signs she'll soon be free. How long isn't up to you nor me.
Thoughts in fractured alignment capture her memories.
They fade in and out as she putters about.
It is eerie how the soul knows when the door begins to close.
She pretends not to see- need, that stares in reflection begging for attention.
She now writes not caring whether grammar is properly formed.
Em dash nor commas will not be what her children mourn.
The valley draws near and she says she does not fear.
I believe her, for she long prepared for this path to appear.
She must descend, before she ascends shaking loose the cloak she wore.
She clears the air from despair, for in this world she will cling no more.
Unpacking forgiveness to lighten her load, no untruths left to be told.
May the light of love shine upon thee when breath takes its last.
May a smile be upon her face, when God`s hand she dare grasp.
