When young I read the poem Invictus

It touched me with the black pit

And his “unconquerable soul”

But now with light I see

One escaping the pit of reality

Is not an escape

But an entombment

Into a sarcophagus of no feeling

So now I live not only the joy

But the knives and arrows

Of life’s sometimes painful reality

Knowing that I can survive

I can be alive or a you say

I can drink from another cup

I’m glad you enjoyed your

Mint and chocolate chip
