Might I Throw You a Party
A cocktail party to die for Remember to save the date You are cordially invited To RSVP your hate Hunger is to be satisfied Catered happily by greed Working the impoverished Until their fingers bleed For your entertainment Prejudice will play Their new song of injustice Just Do it My Way Gossip will be plentiful You`ll hear it on and off Compliments to the guest of honor The Flaming Molotov
The above poem was written over twenty years ago. I was on a writing forum and where they had weekly contests. (spoiler, I didn`t win) 🤷 Anyways the only prompt-the piece had to contain The Flaming Molotov.
I didn`t think I would be able to write about something used in violence and can be so deadly, that I`d be ok with. So, after contemplating my struggle with the topic I decided to turn inward on what fuels such hatred. Let me be clear, I do not support violence as the answer to any problem. It is wrong.
Our gut reaction may be retribution, (I am not without those initial thoughts) our actions must be those that are lawful. It is only then that vindication in the name of justice can come.
Be the light in somebody`s darkness 💕
