Character

The character of a man
Isn't hard to find
He shows it in his actions
Of where he truly stands

Some speak their truth 
With bombastic lies
No longer can they masquerade
Their shallow soul inside

One raised his fist in defiance
To rewrite his history 
He demands what he cannot show
To suppress you and me
Such is the rich poor man
Who has no dignity 

There is another who 
Through all the abuse
Tried to unify this nation 
Tried to reach a truce

He did what is honorable
What was once taught to all
Take a knee in silence
When a player falls 

He showed his opponent 
The meaning of compassion
He now Passes the baton 
To the younger generation 

His character is that
Of a mighty man
Not because he ruled
With an iron hand 

With humility, he
Sacrificed all his ambitions 
May the good Lord bless him,
For, he so loved his nation
