Actions
Actions speak louder than any words you can find
To tell the one you love, she`s yours `til the end of time
Your eyes can glimmer with the warmth of your love
No words to be spoken, an embrace, more than enough
So, when you tell her she`s the one for you
The words she`ll remember, are those that you do
The above poem was written in February of 2010. As I sit in reflection, of this short yet direct piece, I am perplexed that “actions” is listed as a “noun”. One would think, or at least this `one` thinks it should be a “verb”. 🤔
Now hear me out, remember I dropped out of school, so my critical thinking kicks in.
A “verb” is defined as a word used to describe “action”. So wouldn`t logic, ok my logic, be to see the “noun”- actions (plural) as a “verb”. Its implications in the sentence structure are that action has already taken place or is about to commence.
(*side note I’m quite sick of (““), aren`t you? Loved writing, grammar is my nemesis.) 😏😂
Then, as another synapse fires off, the very idea that, it is in our actions that-truth is given to our words.
Now, now I am just as guilty as next of saying “call anytime”, only to have that call come at an early hour or inconvenient time and find myself unavailable either physically or mentally at the moment.
The trust we put in another’s words are re-enforced by their actions. That trust we know we can bank on. That the person has consecutively aligned their actions to match their words.
I`d like to think that I have done this with most things in my life. But I will point out, so others don`t need too, that I too have fell short on more than one occasion. I have felt the full brunt of that shortcoming as one always does when Karma comes for her dues.
Hope, change, forgiveness and love can aid us as we journey. Could we as a society once again honor truth by putting it in our actions?
May you -*Be the Light in someone’s darkness✨💕
